Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

The journal's scope is mainly in line with economics (micro and macroeconomics issues), finance (corporate, private and public finance) and management (corporate, quality and human resources management). The Editorial Board welcomes original papers that offer significant scientific contributions to the fields of economics, finance, and management. These papers should be of interest not only to the domestic but also to the global academic community.

The journal accepts articles from the following research areas:

Entrepreneurship (strategic entrepreneurship, international entrepreneurship, innovation, entrepreneurship education, marketing; management; internationalisation strategies; competitiveness of enterprises; transnational corporations).

Trade (traditional and modern forms of trade; export competitiveness; trade policy; value chains; internationalisation of industries; regional trade agreements; protectionism and liberalisation of trade).

Regional economy (challenges of the contemporary regional economy; international comparisons; foreign direct investments; regionalisation and semi-globalisation; innovation of regional economy; international macroeconomy).

Finance (problems of contemporary finance; capital markets; foreign exchange market; capital flows; international corporate finance; consumer finance; financial literacy).

Economic integration (Europeanisation processes; integration and disintegration in the European Union; European economic integration; EU and geopolitics; integration processes in the global economy; integration groups).

The mission of the journal is to disseminate high-quality scientific production in the scope of economics, finance and management on an open-access basis, both domestically and internationally.

Peer Review Process

Academic papers are reviewed in the following manner:
1. After a paper has been submitted to the publishing system of Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska, sectio H – Oeconomia it is assigned an editorial number, which identifies it at the further stages of the peer review process.
2. The Editorial Board evaluates the article’s merit and form. The Editorial Board sends the following texts for review: conceptual and research papers. If the Editorial Board decides to publish review papers, and conference reports, they will also be submitted for the reviewing.
3. Before sending for review, all texts submitted for publication are verified using anti-plagiarism software, and the report from the verification being made available to reviewers by the Editorial Board without revealing the author's identity.
4. When approved by the Editorial Board, the paper is further reviewed by two independent external reviewers from outside the scientific unit affiliated by the author. It is possible for one reviewer to be affiliated at MCSU with the exception of manuscripts where some of the author's affiliation is MCSU.
5. The Editorial Board makes every effort to search for reviewers so that at least one of the reviewers shall be affiliated to a foreign academic institution.
6. The Author(s) and the reviewers are not aware of each other’s names (due to double-blind review process),
7. Reviewers are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief in cooperation with the Editorial Board members. Where necessary, the relevant members of the Thematic Editors and/or Scientific Board shall be consulted.
8. Reviewers' Conflict of interest
    a. The reviewer, when accepting the request to review a manuscript submitted to Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska, sectio H – Oeconomia shall make a declaration of the lack of conflict of interest [email]
    b. A conflict of interest shall be deemed to be the relationship arising from a competitive activity, cooperation or other personal, financial or professional relationships of the reviewer with any of the authors or institutions related to the manuscript submitted.
    c. If the Reviewer noticed a possible conflict of interest, despite the double-blind review process, they should decline the review and immediately inform the Editorial Team via email.
9. The review is a filled-out review form, which can be found on the journal’s panel. In case of technical problems reported by the Reviewer or in the case of Special Issue the Review may be conducted on the text form in the file provided by the Editorial Board. In such a situation, the reviewer sends the Review via email to the journal’s address, and the Editorial Board member submits it to the publishing system and makes it available to the author(s) anonymously.
10. The Reviewer has access to the text file and the report on the anti-plagiarism control on the individual account on the journal’s web-site. The files do not provide the authors’ identification data.
11. The review states a conclusion about whether the article can or cannot be published in the journal. They may choose the following recommendations concerning the peer-reviewed manuscript: Accept Submission; Revisions Required; Resubmit for Review; Decline Submission
12. In situations of controversy or in the event of inconsistent reviews, the admission to publication shall be decided by an editorial board, which may appoint an additional reviewer or reviewers.
13. Articles with complex issues of a statistical nature are sent to the statistical editor.
14. Once the review is received, its content shall be communicated to the author without disclosing the identity of the reviewers.
15. The author of the text is obliged to respond substantively to all comments and conclusions posted in the review using the following form (link)
16. In the case of conditional reviews, the editorial board may allow the manuscript for publication provided that the author modifies the text as indicated by the reviewer and confirms this fact in the relevant statement, which should be submitted to the editor.
17. Only manuscripts which have got two positive reviews shall be allowed for publication.
18. The Editorial Board decides if the article will be published and about assigning it in a given issue of the journal.
19. Following acceptance by the editors, the papers are sent to the language editor (native speaker) for adjustment.
20. Rejection criteria for articles submitted to Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska, sectio H – Oeconomia:
    a) non-compliance with the journal’s profile or the thematic scope of the given issue;
    b) failure to meet the recommended work volume of text (min 5000 and max. 8000 words including abstract/summaries and references – for more details, see Author Guidelines) without specific consent from the Editorial Board. The consent to exceeding the work volume may be associated with a fee. The amount of fee will be calculated by the Editorial Team, and it will depend on the volume of text;
    c) failure to adhere to the adopted editorial rules (see Author Guidelines);
    d) negative reviews: two negative reviews result in the automatic rejection of an article. In the case of a single negative review, another negative review results in article rejection; in particular cases, the final decision on text rejection is made by the Editorial Board of the journal;
    e) Without relevant or complete answers to all reviewers' remarks and comments.
21. The names of reviewers of individual articles shall not be disclosed.
22. The journal shall publish a list of all cooperating reviewers once a year.

 

Publication Frequency

Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska Sectio H Oeconomia is a quarterly. The Dates of publishing are scheduled  as follows:

No 1 -before the end of  March

No 2 -before the end of  June

No 3 -before the end of  September

No 4 -before the end of  December

On average, it takes around 180 days since the moment of submission for the articles to be published.

Special Issue conditions

  1. The Editorial Board has the authority to publish an extra Special Issue outside of the regular schedule or a themed issue within the standard publishing schedule.
  2. The terms of cooperation between the ordering party and the editorial office are described in a separate written agreement.
  3. The ordering party may appoint a Guest Editor for the Special Issue
  4. All Special Issues follow the double-blind review procedure in accordance with the principles of Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska, sectio H – Oeconomia
  5. The final decision on the publication of the article is taken by the Editor in Chief.

 

Open Access Policy

Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska Sectio H Oeconomia is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative) definition of open access. The articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY).
