ChatGPT in the Teacher’s Work: About the Possibilities

Julia Więckiewicz-Modrzewska

Abstract

The article aims to analyze the use of ChatGPT by primary school teachers in their everyday professional practice. The subject of the study comprised teachers’ opinions and their declared ways of using an AI-based tool in early childhood education and in grades 4–8. The research sought to answer three fundamental questions: How often, and in what ways, do teachers use ChatGPT? How do they assess its usefulness in their professional work? What concerns and doubts do they have regarding the use of AI tools in the teaching process? Data were collected using the diagnostic survey method with an original questionnaire addressed to primary school teachers. The study involved 85 teachers working in various positions. The results indicate a growing interest among teachers in the possibilities offered by ChatGPT and highlight the perceived potential of the tool as support in preparing educational materials, planning lessons, and creating tests and worksheets. At the same time, the findings reveal the need for further development of teachers’ digital competences and for adequate technical support to ensure the effective use of AI in teaching practice.
